We've been waiting for our Jack and Sally to dress up as Nightmare Before Christmas altogether.
Jack Skellington, Sally, Oogie Boogie and The Mayor is what we decided!

They got the fully store-bought versions.
These are what we used.
The Mayor

Easy since he had a suit and collared shirt. The mask came from Etsy and the DIY was the hat and ribbon. I used an old cardboard hat and cut a pair of leggings for the tall "stovetop" hat look. I glued to seal and added stuffing so it would stay up.
The ribbon is a blue ribbon from the dollar store painted orange and with "mayor" written, and some mod podge on a scrap of fabric then painted for the spider attachment.

I couldn't justify buying a whole costume for mine, so I got the most DIY of them all. The hat I bought from Facebok marketplace. Then I used a white dress that I dyed with tea bags for a textured oogie boogie color.
My vision for this involved green glow paint on the underside that glowed with a blacklight but was otherwise not visible. When it bled through the dress, I decided just to go for a hybrid burlap and green oogie boogie. I did have blacklight LED's sewn into the dress but we decided to buy my car on Halloween and got home so late I didn't have time to rig up the battery.
We loved this first Halloween post COVID and as a family of four. It was special trick or treating with our family costumes.
I can't wait for next year!
Be well,
Elle.
