Pumpkin Spice Matcha

Recipe:

2 TBSP canned pumpkin puree

2 Cups milk of choice (I use unsweetened almond)

1 TBSP sugar OR 4 packets sweetener of choice (I use stevia)

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp allspice

2 tsp matcha powder

Optional: ice

Add pumpkin, spices, sweetener, and milk to a large drinking glass. Stir vigorously with a long spoon or fork. Add in ice if desired, and spoon matcha on top. The matcha will gradually incorporate into drink. It's a magic color changing experience, it starts orange, the green streaks look like pumpkin vines as the matcha seeps down into the drink. As you sip, the whole thing turns matcha green with visable spice specks. Yummy and Fall fun in a glass!

The pumpkin and matcha pair together surprisingly well. It's less intense than a pumpkin coffee with all the caffeinated punch from the matcha.

I may be a week early for Fall officially, but since coffee houses have been pushing pumpkin on us since mid-August, I'd say I'm doing pretty well. I resist Fall as long as I possibly can, Summer will always be my vibe and favorite season. The house bares no indications of Fall yet, but I do plan to go more all out for it than usual this year.

I plan to visit our local barn and pumpkin patch later this week to beat the crowds as the season kicks off. Football officially started, but it still doesn't feel quite like this time of year. I know I've heard the word, I think in German, with no English equivalent of the feeling one gets when in a new season. I get it every Fall but usually later on when the light hits differently and evenings just feel Fall-esque.

Our fires rage on and we vary between unhealthy air quality and unhealthy only for sensitive groups. Staying in and not getting our weekly trail meet ups has been difficult. I thrive on the Vitamin D and socially-distance socializing. Perhaps next week. Rainy days to extinguish the raging west coast flames would be welcomed with open arms to give the fire fighters an edge.

Sipping this drink and watching it turn green pulls me towards the cinnamony goodness of Fall, however my spirit resists. Perhaps the air will improve and I can indulge in one last beach day before giving in to the time of year,

Be well,

-Elle.

Orange to Green, my drink is resisting Fall as much as I am!
